SDK support for discontinued Calisto 830/835 devices?

Hi,

I'm new to the Plantronics product line so I may not even know what questions I need to ask.

I just discovered today that Plantronics has an SDK for some of its devices and I'm interested in trying to interface using REST. In particular, I want to be able to log call waiting caller ID activity in addition to normal caller ID activity. I work from home most of the time so tracking client call activity and duration is important for billing purposes. The call waiting is important in case I'm working with a client to put out a fire.

As far as I can tell, the only supported landline (analog) devices that have a keypad and SDK support are the now discontinued Calisto 830/835 devices. They do still seem to be available to purchase at some outlets so I'm hopeful I'll be able to get one. But I don't want to go too far without asking some questions:

  1. Is my plan to log call waiting caller ID activity a possible and reasonable goal with the SDK and an 830 or 835 device?
  2. Is there a minimum or maximum SDK level that supports the 830/835?
  3. Is there a minimum 830/835 firmware level required to work with SDK 3.0? SDK 2.0? SDK 1.0?
  4. What exactly is the difference between the Microsoft-certified models (P830-M, P835-M) and the non-Microsoft certified models (P830, P835)? For example, are the non-M models simply not accessible by the SDK? Or is does the lack of the -M designation just mean they aren't usable by Microsoft software (Lync and OCS 2007 -- neither of which I expect to be using)?

Thanks in advance for any answers, advice and help you can provide!
